A 28-year-old woman, Gudiya Sharma, was apprehended on a Kalyan-Dadar AC local train for using a fake digital season pass created by her husband, Omkar Sharma, using AI tools. The incident highlighted the need for vigilance in ticket inspections, as Travelling Ticket Inspector Vishal Navle noticed discrepancies with the pass, prompting verification. Railway staff discovered the fake pass was linked to an expired one from February, registered under Omkar’s name. Both individuals face charges under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including cheating and forgery. The Kalyan GRP is investigating potential connections to a larger network involved in creating fraudulent passes. Rail authorities emphasized that passengers should only use authorized ticket purchasing methods to avoid severe penalties, including up to seven years in prison. This incident underscores the growing issue of AI-generated fraud in public transportation systems, raising awareness among commuters.
