Naver Corp., a South Korean tech leader, announced a significant investment of over 1 trillion won ($692.9 million) in artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives for the upcoming year. This strategic move aims to bolster Naver’s capabilities in AI-powered services, including shopping and search. CEO Choi Soo-yeon highlighted the company’s commitment to advancing Korea’s position in the global AI landscape during the annual tech conference, DAN25. Naver plans to enhance its AI infrastructure, investing heavily in data centers and securing 60,000 GPUs from Nvidia to facilitate this growth. As part of its “On-service AI” strategy, Naver aims to integrate its advanced large language model, HyperCLOVA X, into core offerings. A new AI agent, Agent N, will be introduced across major platforms, starting with the Naver Plus Store in Q1, 2024, followed by enhanced search features in Q2. This integration promises improved user experience and revenue growth through intuitive AI interactions.
