Many job-seekers are increasingly utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) to create resumes and cover letters, driven by the belief that algorithms rather than people are screening their applications. However, a report by TopResume reveals that nearly 20% of hiring managers would reject candidates who use AI-generated materials, with 14.5% believing AI shouldn’t be involved in the application process at all. Despite over 60% of organizations employing AI tools in recruitment, hiring managers remain wary—33.5% can detect AI-crafted resumes quickly. They stress that while AI can assist in proofreading, the final document should reflect individual skills and experiences authentically. Notably, 57% of managers oppose AI assistance in interviews, fearing it obscures true candidate assessments. Ultimately, while AI can enhance job searches, its unchecked use may undermine applicants’ chances, emphasizing the need for a strategic approach when applying for jobs in an evolving hiring landscape.
