Amid the competitive AI landscape, OpenAI’s ChatGPT continues to dominate the domestic market with over 8.6 million weekly active users (WAU). However, Google’s “Gemini 3” is rapidly gaining traction. Following its launch, Gemini 3’s WAU rose from 16,196 to 22,928 in the second week, even though it dipped slightly to 21,305 in the third week. New installations for Gemini surged, more than doubling to 111,115 after initial downloads of 59,967. In contrast, ChatGPT installations declined from 202,303 to 191,339 over the same period, indicating shifting user preferences. Industry experts credit Gemini 3’s superior benchmarks, particularly the ‘Nano Banana Pro’ AI image generator, for attracting new users. Despite these developments, Purple Lexity, a prominent player in generative AI, saw a decrease in users and installations, indicating varied market dynamics. Overall, Gemini 3’s impressive growth signals a significant shift in user engagement within the generative AI space.
