AI app, dashboard to help track violations in protected Aravalis | Gurgaon News

Gurgaon is launching an innovative AI-powered surveillance system to monitor non-forest activities in the Aravalis. This system, which includes a mobile app and web dashboard, aims to enhance real-time monitoring and timely enforcement against illegal construction and encroachments. Expected to be operational within a month, it utilizes high-resolution satellite imagery, geospatial data, and AI algorithms to detect land use changes, sending alerts to forest officials within 24 hours.

Developed in partnership with a private technology firm, this system will compare historical satellite images with current scans, identifying disturbances like digging or tree clearing. If successful, it may expand across Haryana to protect other forest areas, leveraging AI for predictive alerts to reduce reliance on traditional inspections.

The initiative is part of Haryana’s broader push to digitize forest governance, automate land-use assessments, and enhance environmental monitoring, ultimately serving as an early-warning system and evidence repository for combating encroachment.
