OpenAI and Norad have partnered this Christmas to enhance the Santa-tracking experience. Users can track Santa’s journey from Dubai to Topeka, Kansas, while enjoying three innovative tools powered by ChatGPT. The Elf Enrolment tool allows users to transform photos into elf-themed images, Santa’s Toy Lab helps create customized toy pictures, and the Christmas Story Creator generates fill-in-the-blank holiday tales. This collaboration adds a touch of magic to the long-standing tradition Norad has upheld since 1955, beginning with phone inquiries about Santa’s whereabouts. Currently, Norad’s online tracker offers real-time updates and a detailed map of Santa’s route, operational on December 24. The initiative involves around 1,500 military volunteers and receives funding from companies like Microsoft and AWS. OpenAI’s Katrina Mulligan highlighted the tools’ aim to create festive moments for families, reinforcing the tradition of tracking Santa while adapting to modern technological advancements.
