Nvidia has announced a groundbreaking agreement to invest up to US$100 billion in OpenAI, targeting the expansion of artificial intelligence infrastructure. This investment, which aims to fund data centres with a capacity of at least 10 gigawatts, highlights the surging demand for AI tools like ChatGPT and underscores the computational power required to support them. According to the companies, the initial US$10 billion will be provided upon signing the deal, with further increments tied to the deployment of additional computing power. Nvidia’s investment will be made in cash and will secure them equity in OpenAI.
