The Ohio State University’s College of Arts and Sciences has introduced the Arts and Humanities AI Institute (AHAII), an innovative hub focused on the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and the human experience. This initiative expands upon Ohio State’s AI Fluency Initiative, integrating AI skills into undergraduate studies while leveraging faculty expertise across various disciplines, including art, linguistics, and philosophy. Dean Dana Renga emphasizes that AHAII aims to redefine the role of arts and humanities in shaping AI, addressing ethical, historical, and creative dimensions. Under Interim Director Chris Coleman, AHAII will foster community engagement, develop AI-focused curricula, and offer student internships. The institute also supports new academic programs, including certificates in AI, Ethics, and Society, and is investing over $1 million in research and scholarship on AI. AHAII positions the arts and humanities as central to shaping our future with AI, providing scholars with essential tools for exploration and development in this evolving field.
