A recent LinkedIn study reveals that one in five younger workers exaggerate their AI skills during job interviews, highlighting the pressure to master this rapidly evolving technology. Conducted by Censuswide, the survey involved over 19,000 employees from 14 countries, including Australia, the UK, and the US. Findings show that 46% of respondents view learning AI as burdensome, akin to a second job, and 37% feel overwhelmed by employer expectations. Many employees, especially Generation Z and millennials, feel inadequately informed about AI, with 28% expressing embarrassment over their knowledge. As AI emerges as a critical area for research and development, LinkedIn’s Matt Tindale noted the urgency for workers to adapt or risk falling behind. While most Australian office workers are already incorporating AI into their roles, many seek free resources for guidance, dispelling the notion that AI requires advanced technical skills. This data underscores the balance needed between AI literacy and employee support.
