OpenAI is refocusing on its enterprise sector as it prepares for a potential public offering by year-end. CEO Fidji Simo emphasized the company’s commitment to high-productivity applications during a recent all-hands meeting, aiming to convert its 900 million weekly active ChatGPT users into high-compute users to compete against rivals like Google and Anthropic. OpenAI is transforming ChatGPT into a productivity tool to drive this initiative. Ahead of the IPO, CFO Sarah Friar is enhancing the finance team with new leadership for investor relations. Following a “code red” strategy initiated in December to bolster ChatGPT amid intense competition, the company’s focus remains on executing effectively. OpenAI aims for a total revenue exceeding $280 billion by 2030, anticipating equal contributions from consumer and enterprise sectors. The updated compute cost target is approximately $600 billion by 2030, aligning with revenue growth expectations.
