OpenAI and Anthropic have announced temporary increases to usage limits for their AI coding tools, designed to support developers during the holiday season. OpenAI has doubled the usage caps for Codex, its AI-powered coding agent, from now until January 1, 2026. This initiative, shared by Thibault Sottiaux on X, aims to reward users for their active engagement. Codex facilitates end-to-end software development by generating and modifying code from text prompts and images, accessible through ChatGPT, Visual Studio Code, or the command line.
Similarly, Anthropic is offering a holiday promotion for its Claude AI platform, where Pro and Max subscribers can enjoy double limits from December 25 to December 31. This offer, applicable only to individual subscribers, reflects the growing demand from heavy users who often reach existing limits. Both companies aim to support developers by temporarily relaxing these constraints during high-demand periods, enhancing productivity for AI-driven projects.
