SAP, in collaboration with OpenAI and Microsoft, is launching AI tools, including ChatGPT, for Germany’s public sector to enhance digital sovereignty. The initiative, named OpenAI for Germany, will leverage SAP’s Delos Cloud on Microsoft Azure, ensuring safe AI usage for millions of public sector employees while adhering to stringent data security and legal requirements. Scheduled for rollout in 2026, the initiative aims to streamline workflows in government, administration, and research institutions, integrating AI into existing operations. SAP plans to expand Delos Cloud’s infrastructure to 4,000 GPUs to support AI workloads and invest over €20 billion to bolster Europe’s digital sovereignty, aligning with Germany’s national AI ambitions. Additionally, SAP announced a sovereign cloud partnership with AWS to enhance AI availability in regulated sectors, further reinforcing its commitment to providing tailored AI solutions for Germany. SAP CEO Christian Klein emphasized that these partnerships pave the way for locally developed AI solutions.
