OpenAI more than triples free API credits available to Australian startups — Capital Brief

OpenAI has significantly boosted its API credits for startups, increasing the total from $15,000 to $50,000, alongside offering 10 free ChatGPT business seats per company. Since launching the program in December, OpenAI has distributed over $1.6 million in API credits to foster innovation among startups. This initiative aligns with OpenAI’s Startups Week, featuring workshops and technical sessions in collaboration with local venture capital firms and AI companies, including Square Peg and Relevance AI. The program aims to enhance AI adoption, particularly through tools like the ChatGPT business, which utilizes Codex coding capabilities. Thomas Jeng, OpenAI’s APAC VC partnerships lead, emphasized the significance of having a local team to engage directly with founders, asserting that Australia’s vibrant startup ecosystem is ripe for technological advancement. This expanded program is expected to accelerate product development and cultivate new AI skills within the teams of Australian startups.
