OpenAI has called on US regulators to investigate “improper and anti-competitive behavior” by Elon Musk amid an escalating legal battle as the trial approaches. In a letter to California Attorney General Rob Bonta and Delaware Attorney General Kathy Jennings, OpenAI expressed concern over Musk’s actions related to his lawsuit against the company. The litigation, stemming from OpenAI’s shift to a for-profit model, was initiated by Musk, who claims the organization has deviated from its founding mission. Despite Musk’s exit in 2018, he launched a rival AI firm, xAI, which develops the Grok chatbot. OpenAI warns that Musk’s lawsuit demands over $100 billion in damages from its nonprofit arm, potentially jeopardizing its operations and goals surrounding artificial general intelligence (AGI).
