OpenAI has partnered with Oracle to expand its Stargate data center capacity by an additional 4.5 gigawatts in the U.S. This initiative is part of OpenAI’s strategy to create an equitable global AI infrastructure, generating new job opportunities and contributing to American reindustrialization. The combined capacity of the new Stargate data center and the existing facility in Abilene, dubbed Stargate I, will exceed 5 gigawatts, supporting over two million chips. This project aligns with OpenAI’s January 2023 commitment to invest $500 billion in building 10 gigawatts of AI infrastructure in the U.S. over four years. As construction progresses, including the operational launch of Stargate I, thousands of jobs will be created, particularly for specialists in electric technology and equipment operation across more than 20 states. Supported by partners like Oracle and SoftBank, OpenAI is confident in surpassing its initial goals.
