OpenAI announces India tie-ups to improve learning outcomes | Latest News India

OpenAI is enhancing its presence in India, its second-largest market after the US, by partnering with the Indian Ministry of Education to integrate artificial intelligence in learning. The initiative will distribute 500,000 ChatGPT licenses to government schools across India over six months, specifically targeting students in classes 1-12. Alongside this, OpenAI has committed $500,000 to the Indian Institute of Technology Madras to research AI’s potential to enhance educational outcomes and teaching methods. Leah Belsky, OpenAI’s VP of Education, emphasized the goal of using AI to foster critical thinking skills rather than serving as a mere answering tool. The collaboration will include training for educators, ensuring technology enhances learning experiences. OpenAI plans to launch its first Indian office in New Delhi and has introduced a localized ChatGPT subscription. This initiative aligns with India’s AI Action Summit scheduled for February 2024, positioning India as a key player in global AI innovation.
