OpenAI has reached a market valuation of over $500 billion, surpassing SpaceX to become the world’s most valuable startup, according to Bloomberg. This increase followed a deal enabling employees to sell shares in the company. Previously valued at $300 billion in March after a $40 billion investment led by SoftBank, OpenAI saw significant demand for its stock with employees now able to sell approximately $6.6 billion worth. Major investors like Thrive Capital, SoftBank, and T Rowe Price are participating in this share sale, reflecting a heightened interest in AI investments. Since launching ChatGPT in 2022, OpenAI’s annual recurring revenue has surged to $12 billion, with projections reaching $20 billion by 2025.
