OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, announced that ChatGPT will soon roll out age-verification, allowing verified adults to access erotica content. This shift aligns with their “treat adult users like adults” principle, set for December. Previously, ChatGPT featured strict content policies to prioritize users’ mental health, but Altman acknowledged the need to relax these restrictions as new safeguards are in place. The updated chatbot aims to be more personable, enabling responses that reflect human-like interactions, including the use of emojis and friendly behavior, based on user preference. The new model guidelines specify that only sexual content involving minors will remain prohibited. This update follows a broader trend among AI platforms, like Elon Musk’s xAI, which are embracing more mature content. Altman emphasizes that the goal is to establish appropriate boundaries without acting as “the moral police.” As a result, ChatGPT will evolve to better serve adult users seeking varied experiences.
