OpenAI recently announced its API platform processes 6 billion tokens per minute, marking a 20-fold increase over two years, while ChatGPT boasts over 800 million weekly active users, according to Seeking Alpha. In contrast, Google processes a staggering 1.3 quadrillion tokens monthly across its various services. Tokens, essential units of data for AI, influence AI economics, including costs and revenues. Barclays analyst Ross Sandler noted that OpenAI leads in consumer AI token use, surpassing Google’s Gemini, but Google holds the overall token processing lead. Meanwhile, competitor Anthropic is gaining traction in the enterprise sector, with nearly double the revenue share compared to OpenAI and a projected annual run rate of $9 billion by year-end, potentially reaching $20 billion by 2026. Additionally, generative AI is enhancing supply chain efficiency, driving down costs by 3-4%, while CFOs increasingly see supply chain finance as a strategic function aided by AI integration.
