OpenAI unveiled ChatGPT Atlas on Tuesday, a revolutionary web browser integrated with the ChatGPT generative chatbot. This innovative tool streamlines tasks like vacation rental bookings or flight reservations while allowing users to ask follow-up questions for enhanced information. Additionally, Atlas can assist with text revisions and online shopping, all within the same browsing tab. OpenAI emphasizes that the browser capabilities are user-controlled, with an option to learn from individual browsing behavior. Users can access and manage these personalized notes similar to browsing history, ensuring privacy and control. Atlas allows customization of browser memories, with specific sites able to toggle these features. Currently available on iOS for all ChatGPT service tiers—Free, Plus, Pro, and Go—OpenAI plans to release versions for Windows and mobile devices soon. The browser also supports importing bookmarks and settings from existing platforms like Safari and Chrome, enhancing usability and continuity for users.
