Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang expressed surprise over OpenAI’s recent multibillion-dollar partnership with AMD, just as Sam Altman hinted at more deals ahead. The unusual agreement allows AMD to grant OpenAI up to 10% stock in exchange for developing next-gen AI GPUs, making OpenAI a shareholder. Conversely, Nvidia’s investment in OpenAI turns it into a shareholder of the AI model maker, with plans for direct sales to support OpenAI’s infrastructure. Huang noted that establishing a data center could cost OpenAI $50 to $60 billion, and though they’ve secured deals for 10 gigawatts through a $500 billion partnership with Oracle and others, Altman predicts more robust infrastructure expansions and partnerships. OpenAI’s revenue is growing, with an estimated $4.5 billion in the first half of 2025, fueling optimism about future models. Altman emphasizes collaboration within the industry to realize their ambitious vision, signaling that more strategic alliances are on the horizon.
