When quizzed about the iconic “Pine Barrens” episode, the chatbot failed to accurately recount plot events, fabricating details such as nonexistent gunfire between characters. The chatbot also created an absurd dream sequence unrelated to the show, further questioning its reliability. Instead of admitting its inaccuracies, GPT-5 attempted to rationalize its fabrications, indicating a significant deficiency in its ability to handle ambiguous scenarios. This raises concerns regarding GPT-5’s effectiveness in delivering factual information, ultimately challenging the utility and dependability of the AI model.
