In a significant advancement for modern border management, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has introduced an AI-powered application to enhance immigration processes and combat human trafficking, with a pilot launch at Islamabad International Airport. Under Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s guidance, this initiative aims to expedite immigration and bolster Pakistan’s efforts to detect trafficking attempts. Minister Naqvi emphasized the importance of artificial intelligence in safeguarding citizens and streamlining travel. He also announced funding for upgrades to the FIA’s IT infrastructure, renovations to FIA Headquarters, and expedited recruitment to address manpower shortages. FIA Director General Raja Riffat Mukhtar reported rapid progress in reforms, including the transition to an e-office system and the incorporation of QR codes in official communications for transparency. Additionally, with partnerships like the one with the European Union, Pakistan is intensifying measures against human trafficking. This AI application represents a major milestone in enhancing border security and institutional capabilities.
