Recent discussions between Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei highlighted potential consequences for non-compliance, including designating Anthropic as a supply-chain risk or invoking legal measures to enforce rule changes. Contractors, including Lockheed Martin and Boeing, are being consulted regarding their reliance on the AI firm. Anthropic’s refusal to lift safeguards prevents its technology from being used for autonomous weapon targeting or U.S. surveillance. Notably, Anthropic’s AI was used successfully in a military operation against Venezuela’s President Maduro.
