His notable roles include assistant professor at Stanford, founder of Sisu Data, and vice president of engineering for AI at Google Cloud.
Anthropic’s interest in building “people products” led them to seek Bailis, particularly emphasizing the need for expertise in systems like Workday, Salesforce, and NetSuite. His primary role will focus on reinforcement learning engineering, aiming to enhance the efficiency and reliability of Anthropic’s AI systems. This trend reflects a notable shift as AI firms increasingly compete with traditional enterprise software providers. In response to Bailis’s departure, Workday has appointed Gabe Monroy as CTO.
