Peter Steinberger, the creator of the viral AI personal assistant OpenClaw, has joined OpenAI to enhance the next generation of personal agents. OpenClaw, initially called Clawdbot and Moltbot, gained acclaim for its ability to manage calendars, book flights, and connect various AI assistants. The renaming was prompted by a legal threat from Anthropic and Steinberger’s preference for a fresh identity. In a recent blog post, he expressed a desire to make a significant impact rather than build a large company, emphasizing that partnering with OpenAI is the best path to achieving this vision. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced on X that Steinberger will spearhead advancements in personal AI technology. Meanwhile, OpenClaw will transition into an open-source project, enabling ongoing support from OpenAI. This collaboration is set to revolutionize how users interact with AI, making powerful tools accessible to a broader audience.
