OpenAI has launched an India-first initiative aimed at enhancing education through AI tools and training, coinciding with their upcoming New Delhi office. The initiative, supported by a $500,000 collaboration with IIT Madras, focuses on using AI to improve learning outcomes and teaching methods based on cognitive neuroscience. OpenAI has appointed Raghav Gupta as Head of Education for India and Asia Pacific, leading efforts to make AI tools accessible to educators, students, and researchers. Over the next six months, OpenAI plans to distribute around 500,000 ChatGPT licenses to teachers in government schools and technical institutes, supporting lesson planning and digital skills. This initiative, part of the OpenAI Learning Accelerator under the AI Impact Summit, aims to boost AI literacy and responsible technology use among educators and learners. Additionally, OpenAI introduced ChatGPT Go, a subscription plan designed for Indian users, enhancing accessibility to its advanced AI tools.
