Report Highlights Growing Workplace Divide Between Management and Employees Due to AI Tools

New research suggests there is a widening gulf in the use of AI tools between senior leaders and junior staff, raising concerns that productivity gains from the technology are being unevenly shared

New research from Employment Hero highlights a significant “AI advantage gap” between senior leaders and junior employees in the UK. While nearly 75% of senior managers use AI tools monthly, only 32% of entry-level staff do. This disparity suggests that productivity gains from AI technology are not evenly distributed, especially in small businesses where fewer than 50 employees are half as likely to adopt AI. Interestingly, millennials, not Gen Z, are the most frequent users of AI tools. The findings reveal that employees excluded from AI initiatives report a 50% decline in productivity, impacting overall firm performance. Kevin Fitzgerald, UK managing director at Employment Hero, emphasizes the need for a human-centered AI adoption strategy that benefits all levels of staff. Addressing this gap is crucial for enhancing individual business performance and supporting broader economic growth. Organizations must prioritize digital skills investment to ensure equitable access to AI tools across the workforce.
