A groundbreaking universal deepfake detector has achieved unprecedented accuracy, effectively recognizing a variety of AI-manipulated videos, including non-consensual pornography, political misinformation, and financial scams. Traditional deepfake detection models primarily focus on facial recognition, limiting their effectiveness. Developed by researchers, including Rohit Kundu from UC Riverside, this new model analyzes both faces and background elements, identifying subtle inconsistencies and signs of AI manipulation across diverse video types. It has registered accuracy rates between 95% and 99% for face-swapped videos and outperforms other detectors for completely synthetic video analysis.
