AI-Driven Search Tool Enhances Legal Research for Singapore Lawyers

A groundbreaking AI-powered legal research tool has been launched in Singapore, aimed at enhancing the efficiency of legal practitioners using the LawNet platform. Developed in collaboration with the Singapore Academy of Law, this innovative search engine allows attorneys to ask questions in natural language and receive relevant, contextual answers tailored to Singapore’s legal system. The tool leverages an extensive database, including judgments and statutes, promising to improve the legal research experience significantly. Introduced at the TechLaw.Fest, the GPT-Legal Q&A tool builds on the earlier GPT-Legal model, which summarized over 15,000 unreported court judgments. Initially focusing on contract law, the platform plans to expand to family and criminal law. Justice Kwek Mean Luck highlighted its transformative capabilities in legal research, moving beyond traditional keyword searches. Additionally, a new agentic AI system has been created to streamline corporate secretarial tasks, allowing professionals to focus on strategic advice.
