He speculated that the similarity in writing styles stems from real individuals mimicking LLM-speak, partly due to the “Extremely Online crowd” and the hype cycle surrounding AI tools. This phenomenon seems to result in a perception of social media content feeling “fake” compared to a couple of years ago. Other figures, like Y Combinator’s Paul Graham, echoed these concerns, noting that low-quality AI-generated content, or “AI slop,” is proliferating across platforms, driven by engagement strategies. As creators optimize for clicks, the landscape may become inundated with uninspired AI-driven posts.
