This change allows buyers to find and complete purchases right inside ChatGPT, although transactions will primarily redirect to the merchants’ own stores via an in-app browser or separate desktop tab. Shopify’s native Instant Checkout powered by Shopify Payments supports this integration, ensuring that all orders flow through Shopify’s robust infrastructure. This update signals ongoing experimentation in AI-assisted commerce, as more consumers utilize ChatGPT for product research, while still preferring traditional checkout methods. Importantly, Shopify’s system requires no additional app development, automatically integrating eligible products into AI platforms through its existing catalog.
