U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM) is preparing to evaluate industry hardware solutions to enhance its use of artificial intelligence (AI) and large language models (LLMs). This initiative aligns with the Department of Defense’s focus on generative AI tools for enterprise and warfighting tasks. SOCOM’s J24 Intelligence Data Science Team seeks procurement contracts for advanced GPU hardware, capable of supporting high-performance AI workloads, particularly within remote locations. The planned solution must ensure immediate operational readiness with minimal IT intervention, offering high bandwidth and energy efficiency. A technology assessment event by SOFWERX in Tampa will help determine the best turnkey GPU server solutions for LLM tasks. Vendors will be assessed based on performance, scalability, infrastructure compatibility, and deployment support. The submission deadline is December 9, with top contenders invited for further assessment in January. This initiative underscores SOCOM’s commitment to maintaining a strategic edge through cutting-edge technology solutions.
