Google’s Gemini is gaining significant popularity in South Korea, now the second-largest paid subscription market for generative AI services. According to Sensor Tower, South Korea contributed 11.4% of Gemini’s global revenue on Apple’s App Store, totaling approximately $21 million, while the U.S. led at 23.7%. Despite ranking 17th in downloads, South Korea boasts the highest revenue per download among major markets, highlighting strong profitability. The growth of Gemini has been particularly boosted by the launch of Gemini 3 in November 2022, which improved reasoning abilities and usability for research, writing, and problem-solving tasks. Consequently, daily active users in South Korea surged by 103.7% post-launch, marking the highest growth rate. Within the South Korean generative AI app landscape, OpenAI’s ChatGPT maintains the most daily active users, with Gemini in a solid second position. This trend emphasizes Gemini’s potential in the competitive AI market.
