Spotify is beta testing a groundbreaking “Artist Profile Protection” feature, aimed at enhancing control and safeguarding artist identities on the platform. As AI-generated music floods streaming services, this tool allows artists to review and approve releases before they appear on their profiles. Spotify recognizes the issues of misattributed tracks stemming from metadata errors and the proliferation of AI content, which can distort catalog stats and user recommendations. This feature is designed specifically for artists facing recurring issues or sharing common names. Artists in the beta can enable this option in their “Spotify for Artists” settings, receiving notifications for new music deliveries. Only approved tracks will contribute to artist stats and appear in Release Radar. Spotify’s proactive approach addresses artists’ top concerns and aims to improve user experience on the platform, reinforcing its commitment to artist identity protection leading up to 2026.
