Starbucks is implementing an advanced artificial intelligence tool to streamline inventory management across its North American stores by the end of September. Developed with NomadGo, this AI technology enhances inventory counting efficiency, with reports indicating an eightfold increase in frequency and real-time visibility for better replenishment. Utilizing computer vision, 3D spatial intelligence, and augmented reality, employees can scan fridges and stockrooms, automatically listing ingredient amounts and types. Starbucks aims to minimize stockouts, which CEO Brian Niccol identified as a major issue, by optimizing the supply chain and facilitating more frequent inventory updates. This innovation follows Starbucks’ strategic menu simplification and expansion, ensuring new offerings like protein-rich cold foam remain consistently stocked. Additionally, the rollout of the SmartQueue algorithm has significantly improved order processing times. These technological advancements underscore Starbucks’ commitment to operational efficiency and enhanced customer experience through modern supply chain management.
