Google’s Gemini AI chatbot is now available on Wear OS smartwatches, including devices from Google, Samsung, Oppo, OnePlus, and Xiaomi. This update enhances natural language understanding and provides more flexible responses, making it easier for users to interact with their smartwatches. Initially launched as a mobile app and desktop interface, Gemini is expanding to wearables as part of Google’s continuous efforts to improve user experience.
Gemini allows users to ask complex questions, manage apps like sending texts or creating playlists, and summarize information from emails and texts—all tailored for smartwatch functionality. While a new raise-to-speak gesture was rumored, access is currently via button press or voice command with “Hey Google.”
The rollout officially begins today for Wear OS 4 or newer devices and will continue over the coming weeks. With Gemini’s arrival, smartwatch communication becomes more intuitive, addressing previous frustrations users experienced with the older Google Assistant.
