Hyderabad Management Student Develops AI Tool for Airline Onboarding
A Hyderabad-based management student, Sneha Khowala, has created an innovative AI tool, Onboardly, to address the issue of fragmented airline onboarding. Developed with Jash Lodhavia as part of Dr. Daniel Ringel’s “AI in Business” course, Onboardly aims to streamline the onboarding process for new airline employees. Sneha identified that new hires often struggle to access vital information quickly, leading to operational inefficiencies. Onboardly consolidates Air India’s onboarding resources into a single conversational system, allowing new recruits to ask role-specific questions and get structured answers, thus enhancing productivity. The tool integrates retrieval-augmented generation and role-based access controls, successfully reducing repetitive queries by 35-60% and accelerating productivity by nearly three weeks. With a focus on compliance and operational readiness, Onboardly demonstrates how AI can enhance onboarding efficiency while maintaining safety standards in the aviation industry.
