The Centre for Teacher Accreditation (CENTA) in India has released significant findings from two nationwide surveys about the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in classrooms. Over 70% of teachers leverage AI tools, primarily for lesson planning rather than direct interaction with students. Notably, while 67% of teachers rated their AI knowledge as 6 or higher, only 57% answered basic AI questions correctly, indicating a gap between usage and understanding. Additionally, concerns regarding AI’s impact on jobs and the accuracy of AI-generated content were prevalent among 84% of respondents, encompassing teachers, parents, and students across various school types. As AI becomes increasingly integrated into educational settings, CENTA emphasizes the urgent need for structured training and effective communication. These findings aim to spark conversations about preparing educators, informing parents, and adapting curricula to better equip students for an AI-influenced future.
