Additionally, 26% reported that these AI tools influenced their provider choices, competing closely with traditional methods like primary care referrals (28%) and healthcare review sites (29%). The surveys, conducted in December 2024 and June 2025, indicate a shift in patient behavior, with 73% adopting new tools for provider research, including AI chatbots, voice assistants, and social media. Notably, 84% of patients checked online reviews before booking care, and 61% trust these reviews more than personal recommendations. Moreover, about one-third of patients trust AI-generated results as much as traditional search engines, with only 11% expressing skepticism. Rater8 emphasizes that while AI aids in guiding choices, authentic patient experiences are vital for final decisions.
