The Tamil Nadu government is addressing the technological divide by launching the Tamil Nadu Schools Programme for AI, Robotics, and Knowledge of Online Tools (TN SPARK). Designed for students in Classes 6 to 9, the initiative aims to equip government school students with essential skills in Artificial Intelligence (AI), coding, and digital tools, fostering a tech-savvy generation irrespective of socio-economic status. Currently implemented in 85 Coimbatore district schools, the curriculum features bilingual textbooks and trained teachers, covering computer science fundamentals, including algorithms and data visualization. Students engage with high-tech lab computers for innovative lessons across subjects. Modules introduce creative AI applications and coding through beginner-friendly platforms like Blockly and Scratch, igniting interest in students. TN SPARK promotes digital literacy and problem-solving skills, preparing participants for future academic and career opportunities. This initiative sets a precedent for technology integration in government education, ensuring equal access for all students in Tamil Nadu.
