OpenAI and Oracle have formalized a groundbreaking $30 billion annual cloud contract, marking a significant partnership in artificial intelligence and data center infrastructure. This collaboration includes extensive projects like the Stargate initiatives in Texas and the UAE, aimed at global expansion. The deal involves OpenAI leasing approximately 4.5 GW of capacity from Oracle, with potential data center expansions in states such as Michigan, Wisconsin, New Mexico, and Wyoming. Despite expectations for contract revenue not impacting Oracle’s financials until 2028, the company’s demand for cloud infrastructure continues to surge, driven by a burgeoning customer base. Oracle’s CEO Safra Catz reported a 41% increase in committed projects, forecasting 70% growth in cloud infrastructure revenues for fiscal 2026. Chairman Larry Ellison emphasized Oracle’s ambitions to dominate the cloud database and applications markets.
