The decision to prioritize this focus surprised many in the industry, especially since CHAI, established in 2022, has primarily concentrated on ensuring responsible AI practices for clinical applications. Experts have questioned why this urgent recognition of Medicaid work requirements has taken precedence over other initiatives, including the development of AI assurance frameworks and a forthcoming AI model card registry.
