Artificial Intelligence (AI) shows immense potential in addressing this crisis by aiding early detection and treatment, thereby potentially reducing preventable deaths. A recent JRC report discusses the current applications of AI in cardiovascular care, highlighting tools like AI-driven coronary artery calcium scoring and rapid stroke detection from CT scans. Despite promising results, further clinical trials are necessary for some innovative AI applications. The report emphasizes addressing barriers such as infrastructure, regulatory burdens, and ensuring that AI technologies prioritize patient outcomes. As part of the European Commission’s Safe Heart Plan, a €20 million initiative aims to enhance AI integration in cardiovascular care, enhancing patient access to cutting-edge health solutions across Europe.
