However, skepticism soon surfaced regarding the quality of AI-generated code, as bugs and duplications became concerns. Now, over 90% of software engineering teams view GenAI as an essential tool, automating routine tasks and enhancing code quality. Yet, misalignment among teams has led to increased friction, with a reported 39% code churn and tenfold code duplication since 2023, raising questions about software stability.
Tammuz Dubnov of AutonomyAI suggests that while GenAI accelerates individual coding, it hinders team collaboration. To address these challenges, he introduces the “PACT” framework, which focuses on Product-facing work, Architecture hygiene, Communicating logic, and Task definition improvement. This strategy emphasizes “vibe engineering,” where developers orchestrate AI to generate cohesive code that meets architectural standards.
