The Supreme Court (SC) of the Philippines recently marked three years of its Strategic Plan for Judicial Innovations 2022–2027 (SPJI), spearheaded by Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo. This ambitious initiative emphasizes technological modernization, incorporating AI-driven research tools, blockchain-secured document systems, and nationwide e-payment integration to improve judicial efficiency and access. Key achievements include the launch of Judiciary ePayment Solutions in 1,064 courts, processing over ₱2.2 billion. The upcoming Philippine Judiciary Platform (PJP) will facilitate digital case filing by 2025, while the High Performance Courts initiative promotes best practices across courts. Additionally, the Unified Legal Aid Service (ULAS) Rules enhance pro bono legal support, and the introduction of Filipino Sign Language interpreting ensures inclusivity in court proceedings. The judiciary also addresses AI ethics and mental health through innovative programs, marking a significant stride towards a tech-empowered justice system. Collaboration remains essential for further advancements.
