Moving to Google Gemini from other chatbots is about to become easier

Google Gemini, formerly known as Bard, has gained recognition as a formidable competitor to OpenAI’s ChatGPT in the AI chatbot landscape. As users consider switching to Gemini from alternative chatbots, concerns about transferring personal data arise. Google is working on simplifying this transition. Recent updates in version 17.11.54.sa.arm64 of the Google app reveal two new options for importing data: users can import chats from other services as .zip files or use a simple copy-paste method to transfer their preferences. This dual approach aims to alleviate the challenges of switching, especially as importing .zip files is limited to 5GB. For those with extensive data, the prompt-based import becomes essential. The “Import memory to Gemini” feature will be accessible through the app’s account switcher. Though rollout details remain unclear, these enhancements signify Google’s commitment to improving user experience in data migration.
