This collaboration with AgroFreshTM Solutions Inc. targets significant agricultural waste, as studies show annual fruit losses in India reach approximately 7.36 million tonnes, costing ₹29,500 crore. By leveraging advanced data analytics through AgroFresh’s FreshCloud™ platform, these technologies monitor fruit ripening and enhance post-harvest decision-making, addressing issues such as improper handling and over-ripening.
Strella employs wireless sensors for real-time monitoring of fruit conditions, while Rubens offers non-destructive maturity assessments in orchards. Both tools aim to preserve product quality and optimize storage, initially focusing on apples and pears. Offered via a subscription model, these solutions are a part of Tropical Agro’s commitment to sustainable agriculture, enhanced supply chain efficiency, and empowering farmers across India in a bid to boost the nation’s agricultural output.
