A remarkable breakthrough in medical technology has emerged from a Turkish high school student, Emre Göğüş, who created an innovative app called HipID. This artificial intelligence-driven mobile application enables orthopedic surgeons to identify hip implant brands and models from X-ray images within seconds, boasting a 92% accuracy rate. With the increasing prevalence of hip replacement surgeries globally, the app addresses the challenge of recognizing varied implant types, reducing unnecessary risks associated with replacing stable implants. Available for free on the Apple App Store, HipID is unprecedented in its field and will be showcased at the 34th National Turkish Orthopedics and Traumatology Congress in November 2025. By facilitating accurate identification of hip implants, the app enhances surgical safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness, benefiting both patients and healthcare systems. This innovative tool is set to revolutionize hip replacement procedures in Türkiye and beyond.
