This app enables users to feature digital avatars in AI-generated videos. The court determined that the name could mislead users, rejecting OpenAI’s defense that “Cameo” is merely descriptive. Following a temporary restraining order in November, OpenAI rebranded the feature to “Characters.” Cameo’s CEO, Steven Galanis, emphasized that the ruling secures the integrity of their brand, which is built on fostering genuine connections between celebrities and fans.
